dedpol

A "deadpool" for politicians and adjacent characters.

Will my Representative retire?
Will my Governor be appointed Secretary of State?
Will my Senator be voted out of office?
Will the President be impeached and removed from office?

"While these questions are fun to contemplate, it's a lot more fun to know the answers."

So, think you know the answers? Then dedpol is the game for you.

Rules

** DISCLAIMER **

In the dedpol.com deadpool, "dead" means a pol (politician or adjacent character) is no longer in the position they were in at the start of the pool. While this could be a result of many things, including death, we absolutely do not condone violence or illegal activity. If a pol's position is impacted as a result of illegal activity, they will be removed from the pool and no points will be awarded for their pick. And, yes, the dedpol.com staff are the sole arbiter of this.

Currently, a new Pool will be started at the beginning of each month and will be open to anyone interested in playing.

  • Pools run for one year, with "milestone" awards over the duration.
  • Pools start with a one week pickem' stage where players choose the Pols whom they think will, at one or more of the Pool milestones, not be in the same position that the Pol started in.
    • This is not a "draft". All players pick from the entire pool of Pols.
    • Each player can pick up to 25 Pols.
    • If a Pol's position changes during the pickem' period they will either be updated with their new position or, in the event that they no longer serve in an eligible position, they will be removed from the Pool choices.
    • The one year duration of the Pool begins at the end of the pickem' stage.
    • All dates and times are UTC timezone.
  • Scoring:
    • Players get points if one of their picks' position changes during the duration of the Pool.
      • Note: Points are only awarded for a change of position from the one a Pol holds at the start of a Pool. If a Pol changes position more than once during the duration of the Pool, only the first change counts for scoring.
      • If we inadvertently assign the wrong position to a Pol, the Pol's actual position is what is used to determine a change (i.e. correcting the erroneous position does not constitute a change.)
    • Points are awarded reverse proportionally, i.e. the more popular a pick is, the less points they are worth.
    • Points accumulate over the duration of the Pool, i.e. points do not reset at the "medalist milestones".
  • Medalists are awarded at three, six, nine and twelve month milestones.
    • Medalists are the top three points scorers (cumulative since the start of the Pool) at the relevant milestone date.
    • Medalist receive bonus points toward the final standings:
      • 30 points for 1st place
      • 20 points for 2nd place
      • 10 points for 3rd place
      • Ties split the sum of bonus point for the respective places
  • Last but not least, rules are subject to change. We'll try not to, but, occasionally, we may need to close a loophole that we didn't foresee.
